Snap domes & Metal dome array

Snap dome is also called metal dome, is made by the stainless steel, and used for the membrane switches.

The principle of snap dome works is that when they are placed on the printed circuit board by means of pressure-sensitive adhesive tape, in their relaxed state, the metal domes rest on the outer rim of the primary pathway. When pushed, the domes collapse and make contact with the secondary pathway, thereby closing the circuit.

Many different shapes and forces of our snap domes are available. We mainly have the four kinds shape: round; four-leg( cross); triangle and oblong, the diameter from 3mm to 20mm, and the force from 80g to 5000g. Platings of the metal domes, such as Nickel plating, silver plating & gold plating are also available.

Generally speaking, the triangle snap dome with legs is divided into three specifications: short legs 0.8mm, middle legs 1.5mm, long legs 3.0mm. Choose the suitable legs based on the thickness of your PCB board.

1. Insert the legs into the hole of the circuit board first. Generally, the legs length should be longer than the thickness of the circuit board.
2. Bend the legs on the back of the circuit board to fix it, or paste a little transparent glue on it.
3. The triangle snap dome with legs is generally suitable for toys, or high force products.
