Some customers’ dome array with special shape or larger size, then they should be required to set up tooling to make. So today, we will have a look at the details for this way:

The tooling of metal dome array consists: spacer tooling, holes and outline tooling, assembly tooling, three partes. The time is about 5 working days to set up. The reliability and tolerance of this way is much thigher than laser cutting to make dome array. Triangle snap domes with two legs

How to assemble metal dome array on pcb board firmly?

Sometimes we will encounter the metal dome array can’t assemble on pcb board firmly,why do have this phenomenon? Do the adhesive of the dome array is not strong? If not, we should take care of the below points:
1, If there is dust, grease, masonry stains on the PCB board? PCB board must be kept clean;
2, We should peel off the dome array by tooling, such as tweezers;
3, Last,we press it a while on board firmly.

Incoming inspection of metal dome array

1, Appearance inspection; whether there is dirty and must be kept clean;
2, Check if there have snap dome missed and double snap domes;
3, If it is exactly the same as drawing;
4, if there is EMI printed, pay attention to the printing line is uniform and quality; domestic typically require the EMI less than 3 ohms;
5, others, such as flash, tolerance and so on.

How to inspect the incoming of snap domes?, what items need to inspect? I think it’s not all IQC guys know these, today we will have a details:

1, Appearance: do have dirt, grease, stains on top;
2, Burr: A4 paper can be tested along side;
3, Force: test by force machine;

The difference of stainless steel,nickel and gold-plated metal snap domes

Metal snap domes (metal dome) material is generally used from Japan stainless steel 301. Normally we have two plated: nickel and gold-plated.

Why do we do the plated on the snap domes? The main role is to reduce resistance and increase the conduction properties of the product . The contact resistance from small to large is: gold plated, Nickel plated, stainless steel. Although the plating can reduce the resistance, it is also a corresponding increase in the cost, especially the price of the gold-plated snap domes.

In general, the resistance of the stainless steel material is less than 100 ohms , nickel plated is less than 10 ohms. and gold-plated is less than 1 ohm.
