How to calculate the whole thickness of the metal dome array?

Do you know how to calculate the whole thickness of the metal dome array? As this is also very important for the whole product design.

Now we make the metal dome array the structure is double layers: Mylar + spacer + snap dome. The total thickness is equivalent to Mylar + snap dome thickness,here we can ignore the spacer thickness, because spacer is shrapnel to snap domes. Mylar thickness is generally 0.025mm, metal snap dome thickness according to the shape and diameter. Such as our 5mm, 160g,circle snap dome: the thickness is about 0.20mm, then the total thickness is 0.025 +0.20 = 0.225mm.

How to test snap domes life cycles?

As a important part, snap domes life cycles must be considered. But how to test snap domes life cycles? If you don’t know the details, today I’ll talk about how to.

We will use the life testing machine to test the life cycles, please see below:
First: test head:  we use the rubber head diameter between 1.5mm to 3.5mm;
Second: test force: two time of the snap domes force;
Third: Test Frequency: 2-3 times per second.

For example, our 8.4mm, 200g, four-leg snap dome, we will test with a 1.5mm rubber head, 400g force, 3 times per second to test life. If you need more information about snap domes, please contact us.

How to make metal dome array?

How to make metal dome array? Here for me to tell you details. We make the metal dome array according to customers’ drawings. As long as you have a product drawing, including snap domes location, outline size, then we can start the production.

There are two ways for us to make: one is laser-cuting, another is to set up tooling. Laser cutting does not require the cost of mold,it’s very fast and convenient.

Metal snap domes characters

Do you know the metal snap domes characters, if not, we will write here for the details:

First, material: stainless steel 301 from Japan;
Second, material thickness: 0.06mm, 0.08mm, 1.0mm, 1.2mm;
Third, click ratio: usually in the range of 35% to 65% we make;
Forth, the total height: he total height = stroke + material thickness;
Fifth, life cycles: from 300,000 to 1000,000 times;
Sixth, the force: from 80g to 5000g we can make;
Seventh, surface plated: nickel, silver and gold plated are avaliable.
